The Seesaw Center will follow Mt. Lebanon School District's closing policy. If Mt. Lebanon has a delayed start, then we are likely to have a delayed start (10:00am) too. To be sure, call the (412) 953-6161 to confirm. If our coordinators can make it in safely, then The Seesaw Center will open.
The mission of The Seesaw Center is to improve the quality of life of parents and primary caregivers of young children ages birth through kindergarten, by providing an indoor play center for youth during the cold winter months and to promote positive parenting through education, information, socialization, and networking.
Please make sure to adhere to the following rules when visiting the center.
These rules have been created with the safety of your children in mind.
Children must be under the supervision of a parent/caregiver at all times.
All children must be members or guests of members.
The highest ratio of adults to children is 1:4.
Children under the age of six or six year olds who have not yet finished kindergarten, may be members.
Adults are responsible for putting away toys after play.
Please leave your own toys at home.
Shoes must be worn at all times.
For children's safety, rough play and running chases are not permitted.
Also no jumping off the slide and climbing structures. And remember feet first only on the slide.
Children, who are ill with a fever or contagious illness, may not use the center.
All soiled diapers must be removed by parent/caregiver from EELC grounds.
No verbal or physical abuse of any child will be tolerated.
Verbal abuse or disrespect towards any employee or member will not be tolerated.
The Center is a smoke free site.
You can help make a difference in one of Pittsburgh's favorite indoor playspaces for children!
Did you know that The Seesaw Center is comprised of a volunteer board of directors? We meet one night a month during the play season to discuss the operations of the Center. The different sub committees meet approximately four times over the summer. Two of these times include the cleaning, set-up, and taking down of the toys for storage.
The typical term is for two years. This way we always have a few experienced people on the board to help explain procedure and keep things running smoothly.
Your creative juices can flow or you can exercise your business skills by joining the board. We are a non-profit organization and we can certainly use any business savvy you may wish to share. We are also focused on making the Center a fun place for the children and occasionally an educational place for parents. Artistry, a good sense of humor and dedication are much admired board member characteristics, too.
The types of people who volunteer tend to be wonderful people who are easy to befriend. As parents of young children, we have a lot in common. We have a lot of fun spending time together and we do have several social events for the board members to attend.
Interested in joining the board of directors? Contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling (412) 953-6161.
Celebrate your child's next birthday at The Seesaw Center!
Only members of The Seesaw Center are eligible to schedule a birthday party at the center.
Birthday parties may be held at The Seesaw Center on Saturdays from 1:00PM to 3:00PM or 4:00PM to 6:00pm. Guests may play in the main center play area. A party room located just down the hall from the play area will be available for refreshments, decorations, presents, etc. A staff member will be on site in the play area during the party, but the individuals hosting the party will be responsible for set up and clean up of all party supplies.
Each child attending the party must have the Seesaw Center release form signed by a parent and/or guardian in order for the child to play in the Center. Signed forms should be given to the Center staff member upon arrival. The Center's rules are listed on the back of each release form.
Birthday Party Room Rental Fee: $125
A $25 non-refundable deposit is required upon making your reservation. Price includes use of the entire facility and party room for the full two hours for parties up to 30 children.
You may make your own arrangements for food. Refreshments are not included in the price. Food may be served in the party room, down the hall from the play area. If you choose to provide refreshments closed drinks-juice boxes or pouches work best (we do not permit open cups). Snacks, lunch-type food, cake, cupcakes, or cookies may also be served.
Decorations and Mylar balloons may be set up in the party room; however, neither decorations nor balloons are allowed in the main play area because they present a significant choking hazard for children.
